Well cared for in health

The Bayreuth region offers excellent medical and sports facilities. In addition to five large clinics, a large number of specialists and general practitioners provide care for the local people and make Bayreuth one of the most important health locations in Northern Bavaria.

The good air quality, many recreational opportunities, the varied nature as well as the balanced relationship between work and leisure time contribute decisively to the well-being.

Pure relaxation

After work, you can relax in the thermal spas in Obernsees and Bayreuth or in the CabrioSol in Pegnitz. Five other spas can be easily reached by car in less than 45 minutes. It is not without reason that Bayreuth was awarded as ``Health Region of Bavaria``.

At the Bezirkskrankenhaus Bayreuth, people with psychiatric and psychosomatic illnesses of all ages are treated on an outpatient, day-care and inpatient basis. Patients receive optimal medical care in three independent specialist clinics.

Health insurance

Foreigners and EU citizens in Germany need health insurance and must register with a health insurance company. Private and statutory health insurances are possible.

With the insurance card of a health insurance company you can use medical services all over Germany. On the back is the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). With it, you are also well covered in all EU countries as well as many other European countries and even some non-European territories.

EU citizens who do not have a job in Germany can only register with a statutory health insurance fund if they have previously been a member of a statutory health insurance system.

Otherwise, EU citizens need private health insurance. This is usually also an option for people who do not come from an EU member country and do not have a job in Germany.

For a trip abroad we recommend a travel health insurance as a supplement for even more benefits.
