ECOLOGICAL BOTANICAL GARDEN

Are you new to Bayreuth and want to get to know new people and the region? Then explore the Ecological Botanical Garden with us!

On Thursday evening, June 6th, we will visit the Ecological Botanical Garden of the University of Bayreuth. Both native and exotic plant species await you there. During a guided tour, we will be introduced to the special features of some of the specimens. Immerse yourself with us in the world of plants, experience a botanical journey around the world with us. We will meet at 5:45 p.m. at the main entrance of the Ecological Botanical Garden. You can easily recognize it by the large metal globe in the atrium. At the end of the day, we want to have dinner together at the “Trattoria am Studentenwald“.

Journey

Cyclists can take advantage of the practical cycle paths that run along Universitätsstraße, for example.

The Ecological Botanical Garden is also very easy to reach by city bus. From the main train station, we recommend line 316, from ZOH the regular buses 306 and 304. The nearest stop is called “Bayreuth, Uni-Verwaltung“.

For car drivers, there are a number of parking spaces available along Universitätsstraße.

The Ecological Botanical Garden

The Ecological Botanical Garden is a central scientific institution of the University of Bayreuth with a focus on ecology and the environment in research and teaching and has been in existence since 1978. On 16 hectares of outdoor space and 6000 m² of greenhouse, the garden presents near-natural vegetation types from all over the world and, in addition to the variety of plants, presents their ecological relationships and functions. As far as possible, it takes on species conservation tasks and offers excellent opportunities for modern ecological field research, general education and recreation.
